that is odd that you wake up at 3 a.m, is there any reason for it? such as having to go to the bathroom or maybe wake up from a dream. it happens to me from time to time, there are a lot of things that can help put you back to sleep. like some others mentioned above me, i always try to lay in bed and relax and dont think about anything. the best way to do is clear your mind and dont think about anything and lay there relaxed with your eyes closed...hope that helps

My husband has the same problem...
you could try having something to eat or a glass of warm milk. But do not turn on lights, that will make your body think it is daytime. Perhaps try a mild, natural sleep aid before you go to sleep. You might stay asleep longer. Exercise during the day for at least 40 minutes (get your heart rate up) but make sure you do not exercise close to bed time (they say 3 hours prior is the closest to bed you should exercise). Finally, try to go to bed an hour later.

I have the same problem. I can't give you a tip to make you not wake up or be able to go back to sleep easily. But here is an important tip anyway: When it happens, don't let it frustrate you or stress you out because that will only make it worse. Just accept it as part of life and enjoy lying there and daydreaming.

Have you tried drinking a glass of warm milk?
Or just try eating something that fills you up, my husband always gets up around 3 am and grabs a bite to eat and falls asleep quickly.

go to sleep later to wake up at the time you want, some people do not need as much sleep as others.
