my boyfriend just died and i would love to get a memorial tattoo for him since we were supposed to get tattoos for valentines day... there are two problems however... he has wanted me to get a mock tattoo of his wrist band, but its not really my style, i would love to somehow incorporate that into my memorial tattoo along with his initials, but i have no idea how to do that. any suggestions? also, his mother doesnt have any pictures of his wristband, and suggested i bring a camera to snap a picture at the viewing... but that seems a little odd to me... what do you think?

I think you should get a tatoo that means something to you. If the band isn't something you want, don't get that. I have 2 memorial tattoos. My frist one is a pink ribbon with my grandmothers birth year above and death year below it. She died of breast cancer. The other is for a friend who was special to me. He died as a result of a car accident. He loved spongebob and so do I so I got a tattoo of Gary the snail on the top of my foot. I like them and they mean something to me. I wouldn't do initials, because eventually you will move on and most guys will be slightly jealous because you'll always have his name or initials on your body. Wait until you think of something that you really want that will be for him. It took me almost a year to decide on Gary. Take your time and something will come to you.
Taking a picture would be a little odd, but it's not unheard of. If you need a pic, take it, or you'll regret it for a while.

taking a picture would be a little bit odd but not unheard of, in the south some people take tons of pictures of the passed person and family. it's odd. you could get the wristband on your ankle, that way it isn't so out there and visible all the time on your wrist. i'm sorry for your loss.

dont get the wristband...thats a little odd. Get his full name, birthday whatever by all means, but incorporate it into something else...what were some of his favorite things??? you could use them towards the tattoo. or...you could get an "angel statue" my friend has one of a baby angel (like in the cemetary) with his daughters name..

Ask the funeral home if you may snap a pic during the special family time. Any good artist should be able to draw up a good piece for you if you describe what you want and take the pic with you. Sorry for your lose.

I would take the wristband, as long as you dont hate it, and make it a border around his name and birthdate/date of passing. I think it would look good done in black and greys with cursive lettering maybe.. Keep it simple, if it gets too complicated it will take away from what it is, its about him and how much he means to you. Good luck, love to see it when you get it done.

That would be a little odd...I suggest you get something that has a heart and his initials / date of birth - passing.
It depends on your pain threshhold.
Also, I would suggest not getting a picture of him.
If you have another boyfriend in the future, will he appreciate a giant shrine to him on your body?
Good luck!

you could get the date he was born and the date he died on your wrist, that way if and when you get another boyfriend you could just say it was a family member if you're not comfortable with telling him.

Keep him in your heart and mind, not some trashy skin design. Besides future liaisons will resent the tribute.
