Sorry ..."steal" not "still".
Ok now that is cleared up yes, if someone has your credit card information it could be misused or stolen.
Most major web retailers us encryption 128 or better, so the information is protected as it moves through the internet.

Yes ... just like someone could copy your credit card in a 'real' store. As you wouldn't give your credit card # to anyone, be careful where you give it online. If you buy stuff on trusted websites (amazon, etc.), there won't be any problems. I've done hundreds of online transactions on online websites and never had any problems.

YES!!! Improper credit/debit card use is one of the reasons why identity theft is one the rise!!! If your creditor uses shopsafe or verified by visa, look into it and PLEASE USE IT!! If not, make sure you only use your cards with merchants you know and trust. Make sure you get your credit report at LEAST once a year, and ALWAYS look at your credit card/bank statements!!!
