i'm a boy scout doing an eagle scout project. My project is to collect and properly dispose american flags. i need to know where to have the ceremony. I have to be in charge of the ceremony and i also have to organize it.

Exact locations in illinoise would be helpful. Actually, any information would be helpful.

I am confused your and mine manual has instructions on what to do the where is not important but I will say you do not put the ashes on graves.

Everyone is pointing you to the veterans organizations, but you might also want to check out the lodges of the Elks, Masons, Moose, etc. Most of these organizations have ceremonies to dispose of the flag.

As to a specific location, that is not necessary. All you need to do is follow the procedure, and give the proper ceremony.

ask a veteran they can probably lead you in the right direction. By the way, I'm proud of you for ask of the proper way to dispose of the American Flag. That means your proud of our great country and what it stands for!

Just about any Veterans org can help. VFW, American Legion, AM VETS. You could also try and contact one of your local recruiters.

The proper way to dispose of them is to burn them. What you could do after that is spread the ashes on vetran's graves.

In other words, do it near a church/cemetary, where veteran's are buried.
