I just bought a new camcorder and I need to get a good video editing program. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I use Adobe Premiere. Expensive, but worth it. http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/

It depends how much you want to spend in time and money. Do you want a program that you can learn quickly or are you willing to put in some hours to learn the dozens of features some programs offer? Do you want to spend one hundred dollars or seven hundred dollars?

The best thing to do is download trial versions and try editing with them to decide which you prefer before you purchase. Some good basic programs include: Pinnacle Studio, Adobe Premiere Elements and Magix Movie Edit Pro. The more advanced programs to consider are Avid Liquid or Adobe Premiere Pro.

If you have a Macintosh then check out Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro.

I use Kino to pull video from the camera, but I believe it is a Linux only app.
Jahshaka is a full feature open source (free) video editing program.

Adobe Premiere is good, but costly!

You should have got your free software bundle when you bought the camcorder! Ask your vendor for it!

All the best!

Cheers!
