According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, it can only be reported for a maximum of seven years and there is no minimum. Bankruptcies can be reported for up to 10 years. In other words, it doesn't have to be on your report at all, ever. So if you don't like it on there, remove it. You are allowed to. The FCRA gives you the authority to do so.

It used to be 7 years, but it went to 10 not to long ago. It only will report 10 years on accounts that were derogatory after the new rule was made, but remember if you admit once to a collector you owe it in any way shape or form the account will be reborn and take 10 years from the time of that alleged conversation or acknowledgment you owed it.

On your report, at the bottom, should be the list of creditors with names and phone numbers and addressess. Write or call.

As far as how long it takes--- 7 years for everything except bankrupcy. It should fall off automatically UNLESS they sell the debt and then the the collection company reports it and teh bureaus think its a new debt. You'll have to prove it if its actually an old debt.

It stays on your report for 7 years. If ou obtain a credit report, the creditor's contact information should be listed. Depending on which bureau you order the report from it will be with the account information or down at the bottom of the report.

its seven years for a unpaid debt to be deleted off your credit report, unless you pay it. It should say on your credit report who you owe money too. If you don't know how to get in touch with them, maybe you can look up the name or address of the creditor on the internet.
