Was Jesus really white or is that what the people who wrote the bible said he was like because they wanted the white race to be superior. What about other people in the bible. Were they all white too?

And don't give me a BS answer that it doesn't matter what color jesus is because when you think of jesus you probably think of the white one when you pray. Or in Talladega Nights the baby one.

I'm not trying to cause controversy I just want a straight answer.

No one got a good photo of Jesus while he was here. But at some point the church wanted pictures and icons of him, so european artists imagined what he would look like and painted and scultpted him. these early renderings were passed down and have become peoples idea of what jesus looked like but have no basis in reality.

The bible never describes him physically, or as white. He is Jewish, so he'd look jewish. He spent much time outside and was no doubt a nice dark brown.

As for me, I dont really even like Jesus pictures, they are somewhat like idols and can lead people to a false security based on a trinket, rather than true belief.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say that Jesus was white. Jesus was Jewish, the writers were also Jewish. They all were middle eastern. They could have ranged in color anywhere from an olive color to a dark brown. Look at the people in these countries today. Iraq, Iran, Israel, Egypt. What color are they? think about this as well. As a child, when Jesus was taken to Egypt, he and his parents, Mary and Joseph, fit in with the Egyptians. They were not noticed when they went there, they fit in. We have very light olive colored Egyptians and we also have very dark Egyptians. Israel, where the Jewish people come from, same thing. So, no, Jesus was not white. It doesn't matter what color Jesus was, but common sense will tell you that he was not white.

Jesus was not white nor was he black. He was jewish. This means that He had darker skin(middle eastern). Yes, white men have modeled Jesus in their image. Jesus was not a little man like you see Him in books, paintings and movies. He was a carpenter for the first 30 years of His life in a time before power tools. He was a strong individual. Oh, just for the 411, Moses married a black woman(she was Ethiopian), so people are people. Have a good day.

Jesus was not white. The descriptions of him say that he had "hair like lambs wool". I've never heard a white person's hair described as lambs wool. Jesus was born in the middle east. In Sweden, the middle eastern people are referred to as black people. (I know a man from Sweden, and he told me that black people in his country are from the middle east.) More likely, he had a dark complexion, and dark eyes.

The children of Moses of the bible could not have been white, because his wife was from Ethiopia, and she was black. The decendents of Cain were also black bodied, according to the bible.

One person answered your question that Jesus had blond hair and blue eyes so that he would look more "angelic". This is typical of those who have an image in their minds based on the prejudices in their hearts. If Jesus was black, or brown, or olive skinned, it didn't change one single truth that he spoke. He spoke the word of God.

The bible never states that he was white. It states that his ancestry was Jewish (in the line of David) Just because one is of Jewish decent does not mean they are"white" either. Most geneologests today suggest that Jesus's coloration was like that of other people in the middle east, neither white, nor black. The main thing to remember is to love and accept him, it doesnt matter what his color is(or for that matter, yours^_^).

Actually, when you consider what part of the world Jesus was born and raised in, it would be virtually impossible for Him to be white. Not that it matters, but I'd be more inclined to say He was olive or light-brown skinned like a Greek, Italian, or Middle Eastern person might be.

Thats a very good Q. I think Jesus was Jewish, but he spoke many languages. I guess the only way to know the REAL answer is when we die and hopefully make it to heaven then you will know the real truth, I'm sure we would be pleasantly suprised he may not even be what we think, He may be bold with a gotee and not a beard. I guess I will never know apart from what we read in the Bible.

I'm not trying to cause controversy but why does it matter if we think of him as white?
Besides I don't think the bible actually said that he was white.
But that is funny how you said that we think of the white one when we pray.I probably do.But as far as thinking of GOD himself?I think of him having a face that when you look at it you'd just be memorized.God says that if you where to see his face you would die.I think that's only because his image is so powerful and beyond comprehension.
Looking into his face would be like looking into a dimension we never saw and it would effect us in all of our senses.
Jesus did say that heaven is more real then you know real as.
So try to comprehend that. You can't because he's way to FAR OUT.
Back to your thought of Jesus being thought of as white.
This is the way I think as a white person.
Sometimes I would like to be a black person so I would know what cool was all about and be able to have that walk down like all the Fat Albert cartoon characters did.
If i died and God wanted to make me look black I wouldn't be upset about it at all.
I wouldn't mind being Chinese either or any other race.I just hope I wouldn't look ugly to the opposite sex as any race.
Now tell me could you say you wouldn't mind being white?

No where in the Bible references Jesus being Caucasian. He was born in Bethlehem and would be of the same complexion of those that are from there. Not sure where you're getting your info from.

There are several different depictions of Jesus in books, churches, status etc. Just the same as if you look at the different depictions of Mary in pictures and statues, her clothing varies based on the culture of the artist originating the piece of work.
