whatever the case, ask him bluntly one question: are you single?
first words out of his mouth would most likely be WHY?
your answer: no reason, just curious.
say no more, leave him w/o any answers or questions, he dwell on it by himself and you can sit back.
it will throw him off guard but also tell him of your intentions.
he may change his behavior or continue, depending on if he likes you or not.
