There is a scripture that says (Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.) Why do some christians say people are being to judgmental & critical when the bible says we will know people by their fruits.Example- If I see a person kill somebody and I say they are a murderer thats not being judgmental thats the truth. Now some christians do judge without knowing the facts, but somethings is just the way it is. Truth is the truth. I just want opinions on this scripture from other christians.

Thank you, RIGHT ON!!!!! Murder is wrong because GOD said it, He makes the rules. If you see someone murder, its fine to say it is wrong because you are not judging, God is.

I think you have a clear understanding of what it means to pass judegemnt. I don't think you should judge but you SHOULD be a fruit inspector!

Truth is about as divine an attribute as there is; even Pilate couldn't resist speculating. But nothing about Matthew 7:20 gives license to exercise judgement. If a man murders, he is a murderer. The fact occurs whether you point it out or not, the result of breaking a divine and moral Law. We should remember John 8:7 before using the limited information our personal 'truths' give us.

Pascal said that we know the truth, not only by reason, but also by the heart. Mercy is the manifestation of the Holy Spirit. What I see in this verse from scripture is a call to consider that a man's decisions are the blue-print of his life.

The Sermon on the Mount culminates (and properly begins) with Matthew 5:44. And, by Matthew 17:1-6, the Christ Himself is manifest in Truth.

Still we (Christians) haven't the authority to damn anyone t hell. All have sinned an unsaved persons sin isn't greater than our own. All it would take to bring them to salvation in a sudden epiphany that God is there, He is Holy, they are sinners before Him, Christ died for them, they are repentant and trusting, they ask for life, He makes them His child... It all would take less than a second. They may well be called by Him how would we know what is going to happen.. Stop putting People down, lift up our Lord He will draw all men to Himself. Jim

I am a Christian.

This Scripture just is referring to how people's actions a lot of times show people's hearts or their true colors.

yet that doesn't mean that we can tell who is going to hell or heaven! We aren't god to judge people's hearts!

Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door James 5:9

You can tell alot about someone by their actions. When you see someone doing something wrong, you should encourage them to do what is right, and not judge them falsely. We all judge, but we should judge hypocritically or detrimentally.
