You can demand a paternity test at your county child support enforcement agency. If you ARE the father though, you WILL have to pay support, but they'll add you to the birth certificate. Then, you go to court (get a pro-se lawyer if you have to. Ask for info at the courthouse) and hash out visitation rights. If she STILL refuses to let you see the child, you will have to take her back to court, but you must STILL pay support during that time! Just letting you know what to expect.
Good luck! So many fathers would rather abandon their children. If your ex doesn't get along with you, that's one thing...but the child deserves a father, so unless there's some real reason that she doesn't want you to see this baby...hey, more power to ya!

If you're not married to her she can. My friend did it. (although not out of spite. The father wanted nothing to do with the child.) If you're not married then it is the mother that decides what name goes on the birth certificate, even if the father is present when it is being filled out. As far as possibly obtaining some level of custody, it is possible, but you'll need a good lawyer. Supervised visitation is a very common outcome for the father in this situation. Judges and the court system are supposed to be for what's best for the child, but many judges and the court system in general have been shown to favor the mother in cases like this. If you think the difficulties a divorced father faces when trying to get some level of custody with his child are bad at times, I can say from experience that it's even worse for the father when he was never married to his baby's mother. There is still a chance though and if you truly feel that you would make a good parent to that child then I would fight like hell to be in his/her life. Good luck!

The birth certificate info. gets filled out in the hospital after she has the baby. If you are not there when they present her with the paperwork she can leave your name off the birth certificate. You can still be ajudicated the father which will give you visitation rights and also make you responsible to pay child support. It will establish paternity though. The only way she can keep you out of the child's life is if you are unfit as a father (due to drug abuse or have a criminal record like domestic violence). Most judges though would still give you supervised visitation. The court system is there to help do what is best for the child and not to accommodate one parent or the other...
Good luck. I am glad to hear that you want to be in your child's life. I was abandoned at 6 weeks pregnant. He never wanted our child until afterward he wanted to see my child because he had to pay support...

She could additionally be hurting the youngster down the line too. i might nonetheless positioned his call on the beginning certificates see how he acts around the toddler and in the direction of the toddler and then if he nonetheless appearing like a butt then bypass to courtroom.

Same thing happened with my daughter's boyfriend's dad apparently. Poor kid is 17 and has never known or even seen his dad. I don't know what name his mom put on the birth certificate, and I don't even know if that man ever knew he had a child. The mom told her kid that the father didn't want anything to do with him. It's really sad, because this young boy is really sweet and wonderful. He must get the trait from his dad, because his mother is a _____.
I don't care what you have to do, but don't give up and please stay in this child's life one way or another. Good luck!
