My sister in law and mother in law are very selfish. It seemd whateva was happening to me didnt matter. I had a baby 8 months ago and wanted to have Thanksgiving at my house. the SIL had to go to her parents (she is 30) and RELAX. they live in DE, we in NJ. When SHE wants to come visit, we have to practically change our plans, although I DONT..the MIL calls my husband and makes him feel guilty. He even changed his plans when he was looking forward to an event this weekend. I dont want to fight with my husband bec i know that is what thye want (the SIL is NOT married and sooo wants to be). how can i make my husband see that it is NOT right, bec if it wasnt a FAMILY member, he wouldnt stand for this garbage

Tell him you're not going to stand for it but if he insists on letting them control him, then more power to him. All you know is that they're not running you over.

Your husband needs to take a stand with his family.

The daughter is the beta female of the group (the mother is the alpha-highest ranking female member, then the SIL, right?)

Your husband is the one who will have to make his decision.

I feel sorry for him--try to be understanding but firm. I'm not saying blow off his family totally; I'm just saying if he has plans and doesn't want to change them, then he shouldn't.

the only way is to talk to him. end up arguing with him is better than keeping your thoughts to yourself until you blow up! just explain to your husband what is irritating you and why you believe what you believe... hear from your husband's side and remember that you and he are married, which means he should think of you as important as, if not MORE important, than his family... yes, it won't be easy, but the result will ease a lot of your burden and needless worrying :D if he doesn't see your point, then you ought to give him all the examples you can think of plus a serious talk to let him see how it hurts you... if he really still doesn't want to do anything, ask him if your doing anything would help... if not, he's not worth your efforts and you may want to give ultimatums or refuse going at all plus don't invite them to your house...
