You do not need an Adobe Image Ready, you just need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the .pdf files, the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader is 7.0

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

Download the version which is compatible with ur OS(Operating System)

I only use a on a daily basis anchor tag that factors on to the pdf document, and opens in a separate window. The Adobe Reader immediately provides you a pdf viewer for the window that opens up.
