The other answers about yogurt, food digestion and the like were accurate. Bacteria also breaks the bodies of the dead down into soil, so unless you are a fan of trillions of dead bodies lying everywhere perhaps you might think of bacteria as a good thing.

No why did god create prions? I mean, bacterias I get, and viruses almost make sense in a really evil and scary way, but prions? I think god was pretty high that day...

Everything has it's purpose. It is interesting though that before there were microscopes for germs or anything, God told the people to wash in running water so that the current took the dirt away from them. If there was not a God to know of what was unseen, why would he say such a thing? I think this is another proof of his existence.
