We have a sweet deal where we can call the States for free. I've never tried 1-800 numbers from here. I'm sure most deals would charge you. Some 800 numbers have a special international code to dial before the number. It takes the charges away.

Some 1-800 numbers are blocked, because toll free calls do not apply overseas. If they aren't blocked, expect to pay the same price that you would for calling to any other phone number in the U.S.

When dialing from outside the U.S. back to the U.S., you dial "00" before 1-XXX-XXXX. The "00" prefix is to access international calls. If dialing from U.S. to anywhere else, the prefix is "011" plus the country code (44 for UK) and the number.

Cha-ching!

Sure you can - but you will hear a notice that on international calls, it's not a toll free number.
