You are a free man in USA but a fugitive from justice in your country. Thus, hide in the USA because if your country has an extradition with the US government, you will be apprehended and returned to your country of origin.

Precisely why I tell people I'm a United States citizen, rather than an American. Although a good portion of the world believes an American is a citizen of the United States, and not any another country on the north or south American continents.
