Granted, there may be misinterpretations throughout history, but mistranslation? That's reaching. The Bible isn't a book of fortune cookie sayings. Have you read any of it? Try the book of Romans for starters, and see if you find everything so confusing. The Bible is the collected words of God to man. If we are pushed away from it, it is because we don't want the God who speaks truth to us, and requires certain behavior. We want a god of our own imagination that just says something insipid like "don't worry, be happy." God gave us these writings so that we wouldn't be without the manufaturer's instruction manual. If you chalk it up to just a bunch of who knows who cares gibberish, you will not be held guiltless. Confidence in the Bible comes very strongly if you actually look into the stuff you just threw out as givens. They aren't.

I don't agree .
We have thousands of ancient bible manuscripts. By comparing these it's possible to determine whether the bible has been mistranslated.
How?
Well these were found all over the place from several different time periods making unlikely that they would have the same mistakes.
If all the manuscripts agreed on one thing except for one then that one has to be flawed. By doing this they have been able to determine that the bible has been translated faithfully.
The fact is the bible has moral rules that were far beyond there time and till this day highly regarded.

Your premise is flawed. Misinterpreted? Mistranslated?
The Dead Sea scrolls represent the oldest translations in existence of many of thehOld Testament texts. Yet they are vitually idientical to what we have today in our modern Bibles. And the most remarkable thing about the Old Testament is that we find in it the foundation work for the New Testament hidden within the text.
Exactly the opposite of what you ask is happening: Belief in the Bible is drawing people closer to God. And for those publishers that constantly offer new translations of ancient scripture for the sake of easy reading, they are clearly misrepresenting God and the teachings of His Son, Jesus Christ.

No the Bible reveals WHO God is and WHAT he wants for our life.
And you are way off in saying that the Bible has been misinterpreted and mistranslated. This is a cliche' statement that has no root in historical fact. As we find older and more reliable manuscripts we find that the more recent manuscripts are amazingly similar to the less copied manuscript, over and over again.

The Bible should not do either. The Bible is a book. But, if you are praying and pondering while you study this book, then you should come closer to God. Knowledge, without the witness of the Spirit, is nothing but knowledge.
Remember, not only does Satan believe, but he knows Christ. It's what you do with what you know.

Before original manuscripts were destroyed we had several thousand copies made of them, and all of them tell the same story. So if you are skeptical, you need to go against the over 5000 copies to rebuke the Bible.
It is propaganda that the Bible is mistranslated.
I have been looking into this and I am confident that the Bible in my hands is God talking to me. : )

I believe it is not the Bible itself that is pushing people further away from God, but an individual's interpretation of what the Bible means. When you read the Bible, the main focus is to love one another and not judge one another. Mostly everything in the Bible has love as its main idea. We were create with free will, so of course there will be conflicts over what specific passages mean and who wote what and so on, but if we stick to the basic principle "Love one another as I have loved you." everything else will fall into place.

You might try asking her if she's OK, if she's having any problems at home that you could lend an ear to? People don't usually act like that without reason. They don't get angry in a vacuum. There is always some root cause (that may not be readily apparent to others) for why they are so angry and mean all the time. Offer her your ear. Jesus put this into practice by healing the ear of a soldier who was coming to arrest Him; also when He was crucified, He said, "Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do." THAT'S called "loving your enemy". It requires seeing your enemies as God sees them, not as you or others do. EDIT: If you willingly took a bullet for someone else (especially someone who hated you), wouldn't you call that "love"? I would.

Considering that the Bible, even with its translational and interpretational problems, is the Word of God, I'd have to say, "No."
Scripture is the only weapon we have in the "whole armor of God," and the rest are defensive armor. And the fact that the Bible itself says that all Scripture is inspired of God means that we need it to grow closer to God.

Yes it is.
Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them, but rather to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until Heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of the pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until all things are accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But whoever keeps the commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.”
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up, to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this cause, God gave them up, unto vile affections: for even, their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.
