What are some ideas for counseling a convicted & confessed murderer to convince this killer that it is ok to accept capital punishment?
What are some ideas for counseling a confessed murderer to convince them that it is ok to accept capital punishment?
There was a murder recently in the New Orleans area. A wonderful woman was shot down in cold blood in front of her husand and small child. It was a senseless crime. What are some counseling ideas to convince the person who murdered at least one innocent person, to accept capital punishment for their crime(s)?
What if you were the counselor? What would you say to this person? How would you convince them? Or do you have any tips for someone who might have to counsel a person like this?

I appreciate the answers here. I see more than two that look pretty good. This has to do with anyone who has committed crimes like this. And some may not be in jail yet. How to convince them to surrender to authorities.

Well if by counselor you mean a mental health counselor then the goal is not to convince your client to do anything. Persuading a person to take a course of action, you think is best for them is to assume that you know what is best for another person. Counselors should not, but some do, convince people to do what the counselor thinks is best. The goal is to collaborate and help the client decide on what they believe is best for them. Making decisions for others is saying they are not capable as well as taking control over their life from them.
However, I am aware that by counselor you could mean a lawyer or clergymen. If that were the case, disregard my answer please because each career has different goals, ethics, etc.

Human nature is to survive even under seemingly impossible circumstances. Even in this situation this would be a hard thing to persue somone to choose death. If the person is spiritual that might be a good approach. If faced with this problem i would show the person what prision live would be like and that is no life to live even for a murderer.

Accepting his/her punishment isn't really relevant, since it will be carried out whether they agree with it or not.
There are always consequences to our actions, and the consequences to taking a life is sometimes to give your own. That is the only thing I can suggest to say. If they do not want to die, they need to think about how their victim felt.

He couldn't ask for the shortcoming of lifestyles penalty, inspite of if he wanted to, because Norway has no lack of lifestyles penalty. Even the most threatening criminals are not in any respect given finished-lifestyles words in reformatory! interestingly he's claiming that he has no longer damaged the regulation. i think he ability Norwegian regulation. He easily might want to no longer advise God's regulation! No Christian might want to ever imagine that they could plot and execute mass homicide without breaking God's regulation! you're top to discuss the entire lack of cheering and rejoicing among Christians at this awful adventure. it might want to also be nicely worth declaring the Breivik stated he's a loose Mason and he has a liking for violent video games and television crime programmes. I have a tip; If you have to come to yahoo q&a's to get advice on how to counsel a killer, perhaps counseling isn't your bag and you might want to consider a new career choice.
I know what I would like to say to them, but to tell you might make me look a bit harsh.
