She has never been in a pageant before, and really seems interested. I am against pageants but she really is serious about being in one. Should I let her? I told her if I do, she can always back out if she changes her mind.

sure, I have a friend who's been in plenty of pageants since before she was even 13.
Just, if you let her, tell her that there will be many girls there and although she is beautiful and talented, there is a big chance that she won't win and that she shouldn't be too disappointed.

I have different opinions about pageants. My daughter is 6 and has been in three. The first two were "Beauty Pageants". The little girls had make up, big hair, and expensive dresses. I think my daughter was the only one without make-up. I would not recommend these pageants. The last Pageant that she did was a Community Pageant. She is still involved with this pageant. Community pageants are the only pageants I would recommend. My daughter has done lots of Charity events and community events in this pageant. She is only 6 and knows who our Mayor is. It also has helped her with her public speaking and behavior. If NA Miss pageant is something like this I think you should let her try it out. Since it is her first I would talk to her about the possibilities of not winning. The day of my daughters pageant she said "If you win you win, if you lose you lose. I'm just going to have Fun." She was five at the time.
Some advice: Let your daughter be Natural. There are so many mom's that push their daughter to do pageants. With my experience I've seen so many mom's more competitive than the girls. I told my daughter to do whatever she is comfortable with just be herself.

I entered Miss Junior my Junior year in high school. I had a lot more fun in this one as we did a lot of dance routins and just got along well with the other girls. `

I also entered Miss Kern County California a few weeks ago, which I back out of as the cost was more than worth it. Had to get 3 different dress, 2 different heals that was so hard to find that specific type, and they were $60 on sale. My talent is belly dancing as I was not allowed to wear any thing showing my belly (hence, belly...dancing) as they decided it was inappropriate to have at a church, yet allowed specific color 1 piece swim suits. on top of that, we had to individually raise $280 for ad's in paper.

It was more about buying and expense than having fun and learning.

With her being a youth, she most likely will have a "sporting" instead of a swimsuit and depending on what type of pageant this is, will depend on whether there be a talent or interview with the judges.

Some people enjoy it and others find it as an expense. I love pageants and did some modeling/acting before.

In the end, I rather spent that few hundred dollars in priority stuff like school than to something that I have the chance of not getting to advance to next level and also putting forth into more money for Miss California.....

If she wants to it. Let her so she can experience the "hype" of it.

Just remember, know where that money is going and if the reasons are valid.

This is a very good system for beginners. National American Miss emphasizes natural beauty and a positive self-image. It is centered around helping young girls expand their ideas of who they are and what they want to achieve. This pageant stresses age-appropriate activities and attire in all age division. You will gain valuable communications skills and the competitive edge to succeed in later life. I'm doing it this year, too.

I hope you do it. It really is great. It's not like a glitz pageant with a whole bunch of makeup and stuff.

Good luck!!!

I truly have different reviews about pageants. My daughter is 6 and has been in 3. the first 2 were "attractiveness Pageants". The little women individuals had make up, huge hair, and expensive outfits. i imagine of my daughter grew to develop into into the in elementary words one without makeup. i does no longer propose those pageants. the only top competition that she did grew to develop into into an area competition. She maintains to be in contact with this competition. community pageants are the in elementary words pageants i might want to propose. My daughter has executed extremely some Charity activities and community activities in this competition. She is somewhat 6 and is wakeful who our Mayor is. It also has helped her at the same time with her public conversing and habit. If NA omit competition is something like this i imagine of you may want to allow her attempt it out. provided that's her first i might want to talk at the same time with her on the challenge of the probabilities of no longer triumphing. The day of my daughters competition she said "in case you win you win, in case you lose you lose. i'm actually going to have thrilling." She grew to develop into into 5 on the time. some advice: allow your daughter be organic and organic. there are a range of mom's that push their daughter to do pageants. With my adventure i have were given seen more than a number of mom's more desirable aggressive than the girls. I recommended my daughter to do inspite of she is comfortable with actually be herself.

If it's like the one my daughter was in where they require the kids to do community service work to qualify, then she should do it for that experience. Otherwise, it's up to her. I guess it builds confidence, if nothing else. The other question is, does it cost you anything besides the outfits? If it does, then it's really just a money maker for the promoters and signifies nothing.

Hello, Only if she really wants to (and not mom wants her to) and only for fun . If It is going to cause a great disappointment I would say no. Be sure and keep her in your sight at all times. Don't let any one take your attention from her at all. Wishing her good luck and have fun. Priscilla

I think that you should suport her if she wants to do it and help her in anyway that you can. when i was 16 i wanted to do this modeling thing and my mom was not going to have it. I had always wanted to do modeling and was very interested in it. I though that she just didnt want to suport me in doing it, but it was because she didnt want me to end up like alot of the other teen models. I ended up going to my dad and stepmom and they took me to do it. My mom wasnt to happy with me or my dad for doing it behind her back. So i see it this way, if you dont want her getting somone eles to take her to do it, then just suport her in it and see how it goes. I have a 4 yr old daughter and if she ever comes to me wanting to do something of this sort then i am going to try my best to suport her, so that she dosent do it behind my back.
