Grandparents are counted in when there is a death in the family no matter if its your family or your wife's. Ask at work. I think it's usually 3 days for grandparents. Some work places have different rules. But for the most part it's usually 3 days. 2 days before the funeral and the day of the funeral. Sorry about the loss.
And no. It is not wrong. You should be there for your wife. It shows that you care. Good for you.

Some places of employment only give one day for a grandparent. No, I think it is great that you are wanting to take time off to spend with the family. It shows you care about them.

It all depends on how much support time your wife and her family needs. You can never put a time limit on these situation. But if you want a number I would say Three days to Three weeks.

I think it would be wise to make some extra time, especially for your wife's sake. If she was close to her grandfather, she will need your undivided support and comfort right now. Making extra time for her now will come back to you in dividends - and I'm not refering to sex, although that will undoubtedly be part of it. She will just love and appreciate you that much more. As far as how much time to take off - check with your boss. It's all beautiful unless you lose your job. If she loves you, she will appreciate as much as you are allowed to give.

Every company is different in terms of what they allow for bereavement. When my husband's grandmother died he only got one day for bereavement pay. If you have vacation time at your place of employment you can always use some of that after you use up the alloted bereavement pay.
I think in general most companies will only allow you a couple of days. My husband's employer is very strict...

No, it's not wrong, but most companies will only allow for one or two days of family leave in this sort of situation. Check in your employee handbook or with human resources.
