I fully agree with Linda D. This isn't like "letting" your child take piano lessons. These kiddy pageants aren't good for kids. They are not only a total waste of time, money and resources, but they convey a totally contrary message to what young girls should actually be hearing concerning what it means to be young women. The talents a 13 year old should be developing are in academics and school-related enrichment activities such as arts and sports. They should also be encouraged to develop a much healthier appreciation of the needs of others rather than focusing on themselves.

I truthfully have diverse evaluations approximately pageants. My daughter is 6 and has been in 3. the 1st 2 have been "elegance Pageants". The little women had make up, huge hair, and expensive clothing. i think of my daughter grew to become into the only one without makeup. i does no longer advise those pageants. The final opposition that she did grew to become into an area opposition. She continues to be in touch with this opposition. community pageants are the only pageants i'd advise. My daughter has completed quite some Charity events and community events in this opposition. She is barely 6 and is conscious who our Mayor is. It additionally has helped her along with her public speaking and behaviour. If NA omit opposition is something like this i think of you may permit her attempt it out. provided that's her first i'd talk along with her related to the opportunities of no longer winning. The day of my daughters opposition she mentioned "in case you win you win, in case you lose you lose. i'm basically going to have exciting." She grew to become into 5 on the time. some suggestion: permit your daughter be organic. there are a lot of mom's that push their daughter to do pageants. With my journey i've got considered a lot of mom's greater aggressive than the ladies. I informed my daughter to do despite she is mushy with basically be herself.

yes of course you should if she is 13 then she will probably understand what is going on better than a younger child would , you never know she may only do it once and then decided its not for her .not all people who enter pageants end up all screwed up and on drugs usually only the people who were pushed to do it at a young age end up like that.go for it!

Yes! Let her!
Pageants can be fun! Remind her that she is beautiful no matter what, because she is! If she doesn't "win", it doesn't mean she isn't pretty! Make sure her attire is age-appropriate and that she feels like a princess! ;-)

Of course you should, that's productive at least she's not trying to be in the streets selling drugs and getting into trouble.

If the mom is ok with it and the child wants to, that's kind of obvious. YES!

I don't think they are good for a childs self esteem. If they don't win, they may no longer feel pretty. Try to talk her into doing a fashion show when your local mall has one.

Pageants are terrible ideas for children of any age. These girls usually end up with serious problems (drugs, alcohol, sluttery).

yes =)
if she has a passsion for it, then you should encougage her to go for it
don't let her do it if she only wants to do it because she wants to be like all those skinny models out there.
only let her do it if she actually has a passion for this kind of stuff

yes let the child have a chance to do wut they want..... they can then later chose if they want to keep doing it or they can stop...... it is a good idea because it can help boost there confidence, it also opens there minds to opportunities plus they can see what it is really like.....
