I've always gotten a kick out of the jealous God of the OT. In the Commandment prohibiting worship of "any other gods before him", God justifies this on the basis that he is a "jealous God".
Wait a minute, if God is all-powerful AND all-knowing, what's he got to be jealous of in the first place? And since he's all-knowing surely he knows there aren't any other Gods anyway, so who's the jealous act for?
Sounds to me like God is a little attention-starved drama queen, not an all-powerful God.
And isn't jealousy a sin anyway? According to the 10 Commandments isn't it wrong to covet something of another's, even attention? So wait a minute, how can a perfect God "sin" in the first place? And how does he get away with being a hypocrite, punishing his subjects for the same sin he commits himself?
And this business about having no other gods before him...God didn't say anything about after, so I guess that's okay, right?
Apparently God isn't even a very thorough God if he forgot to throw in the "oh yeah, and no other gods after me either" clause.

"Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men" (Matthew 12:31).
I start with that because you misunderstand God. He will forgive, but there are things even God won't forgive. Calling the Holy Spirit a liar is it. It really is just that simple. And as for "let good people be tortured," He doesn't let anyone be tortured. You have the freedom and ability to accept forgiveness right now. So do they. The problem is that EVERYONE picks the incorrect religion. God wants a relationship with you. But remember what Jesus said about it: "And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments" (Matthew 19:17).
Everyone disobeys God.

In my religion, the Goddess loves all living things as Her children.
"Nor do I demand sacrifice; for behold, I am the Mother of all living, and my love is poured out upon the earth." -- from The Charge of the Goddess
It doesn't matter what religion you are, or lack thereof. She will never turn us away, here or in whatever afterlife exists. All religions are paths to the Divine, as far as many Wiccans are concerned, and atheism is an honorable point of view as well.

My friend. It is obvious to me you do not have much knowledge of any religion. You probably have some basic understanding.
If you delve into the true philosophies or guiding principles behind any of the religions today, you will find that in the realm of God, there is no religion, no race, no gender, no nationality etc.
It all comes down to your deeds. How you lived your life.

We learn from these experiences. As a human how can we possibley be able to understand why anything happens. It is all part of a divine plan and we are but small pieces of this puzzle. When you consider there are fossils from 250 billion years ago, you realize just how insignificant your life really is. I am a believer in this Divine Force of light.

Being a Jashinist! he's what you ought to say an especially evil god. yet i become actual purely joking on that. those who recognize a personality named Hidan would get it. yet you ought to analyze diverse religions on you personal, you ought to make your human being inferences on the religion. For keep in mind whatever the religion their is often an excellent and a nasty area. whatever faith! So make efficient you seem at each and every thing previously you settle on. solid success searching one which meets you accurate skills, and also i love the way you view existence. (i in my opinion not in any respect found one i love so i determined no longer to regulate faith and now i trust in Atheism. (No faith.))

I think God is just as saddened by our "religions" that choose to split hairs over minute details & take the focus off of the real gift of salvation just as much as He is by the fact that you deny Him and refuse the gift He offers you.

I am still discovering my "faith" if you will, but I would have to say I am more along the lines of a deist or a pantheist. I agree with you to an extent- I do beleive we need bad to balance the good, but I am more privy to think that God is a detached creator, not a being who passes judgement.

It is not that He is "petty", it is that someone needs to bear the punishment. It can either be you or Jesus. God is a Just God, that is part of His perfect, wonderful nature.
