Did it take a long time before the sahara was explored? why?
thanks, it's a geography class question I can't find the answer to.

Geographically, the Sahara Desert was dominated by Egyptians 8000 years ago. They used the Sahara to herd cattle, etc.

The Western Sahara was founded by a Carthage merchant named Hanno. The Muslim Arabs were the first ones who called the desert as Sahara

I don't know where you could find any info. on the subject. It wasn't a hot issue, people didn't thirst
for the knowledge, people like me didn't get all sweaty about it. It was as unimportant as a grain of sand. The need to explore wasn't blowing in the wind.

judging from the way the question is worded i would say yes, and i would say that it is because for a while the only "white" exploration of Africa was for slavery, terrible as that is

thats not a racial slur, it is simply the fact that in the US the only history we learn is the one which was started by white europeans
