I especially love songs that let me show off my range (i'm a first soprano). :)

Sorry, by pop song, I just meant modern. It's not for a play though--it's for show choir. I want to sing a song that's happy and modern, but still has a high note somewhere. I also want to sing something different than what I would usually.

Nothing too slow, basically. :)

I'm a first soprano as well....one thing though...if it's for a play, I wouldn't sing a pop song. I would choose another song from a play to sing that has a similar sort of character to the one that you're trying to get. Often I've found that auditions for plays don't like it if you sing pop songs. It does not show your true singing ability or your true range. I would not necessarily choose a song from the play that you're trying out for because many people do that and you want to stand out at the audition. Break a Leg!

Later: The Sun Whose Rays - from The Mikado...it's on the slower side but it hits the high notes that you're looking for and it's not a sad song. The Mikado is a Gilbert and Sullivan Play.

That Celine Dion song from movie Titanic - that's an emotional one you can really belt out if you've got the lungs.
