In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Now where would the fun be in that?
Omnicient? Omnipotent? If that is the case then everything that has ever happened was either initiated or allowed to happen by devine will. Don't look at me like that...think about it.
If all events past present and future are known..then why put the Tree of Knowledge within reach of Adam or Eve? He knew in advance that Cain would kill Able, and did nothing to stop it. He just watched. Before creating the angels He KNEW that Lucifer would rebel, but made him any way. By letting Lucifer live, it appears that the creation of the 'devil' was intentional. If anything goes wrong... blame the devil. If a 'good' person strays...blame the devil. The devil is a scapegoat for the flaws in the great design. IF Lucifer is so horrible why has he been given such great responsibility? The warden of God's prison...Hell. Why give custody of the evil needing punishment to the first one to rebel? Wouldnt this be comparable to letting Hitler take custody of badguys captured around the world trying to destroy the free world? Kinda silly. Its a rip-off they've been playing mortals for suckers since the beginning of humanity. Read about the betting over the soul of Job. Sounds like buddies betting on the ballgame to me.
In short, if God killed Lucifer, guess who would get the credit for all og the bad things that happened? Yup. He's covering His backside. Also it was the early Christian faith that really pumped up the devil and Hell drama. You know, to unify the ignorant masses against a common enemy.

God doesn't want Satan to go away. Satan serves an important purpose (tempting soul with passions and desires) in order to screen out those souls not yet ready to return home. Satan doesn't make a move without God's consent. There is no flaw in the theology.

God was once a 12 year old boy that got a game/science toy for Christmas. He spent his weekend creating the universe and the players of his game. At first he was real involved and talked to some of the players. He would tweak the game here and there to make it more interesting, but Satan was one of his key players of the original Angel set, so he left him there to make it fun. Then as he got older he got less involved and the game play itself out. But then he had to go away to college, so he created a new player named Jesus to tell us that he would be back. But we better be good or he'll come back and leave all the bad people here and torture us. He should be finishing up his PHD pretty soon so I think I'll play it safe. But I think that's when he plans on getting rid of one of his favorite pieces, Satan.

OK, so God has a plan for mankind that involves Satan creating all sorts of misery and pain for humanity (and, of course, making babies die slowly of starvation and disease). And it also involves Satan deceiving people into not believing in God, but then God blames the people instead of Satan and sends them to hell as punishment for something that HE PLANNED to happen.
Did I get all that right? I'm trying real hard to make sense of it, but it just ain't happening because it seems to me that, if God really loved humans, he would just eliminate Satan so he wouldn't cause misery and suffering any more. Any Christian who can untangle this mess, feel free to e-mail me.

not many believers in this line up...... scriptures tell us that satan tried to overthrow God and is now a fallen angel.... Satan was rejected by God... now Satan works in opposition to God and all he stands for. NO, Satan doesn't work for God
Revelation tells us that Jesus will return to earth and will bind Satan for 1000 years and cast him into the lake of fire....NO, Satan still doesn't work for God..... as a matter of fact, it's his job to lie and decieve and destroy... look around... he works against God.
In all of God's love and splendor, he still allows us the privilege of choosing Christ or not.
God is all powerful and he could snuff satan out.... but the truth is... he let's us choose between good and evil ... think about it, this choice reveals what is in our hearts.
Choose Christ, he died that we may know God personally. Satan doesn't want us to believe that.
Make good choices, you have to live with the results forever!
Be Blessed!

God says Thou shalt NOT kill
and besides, Satan was once one of Gods favorite angels,
Satan can not be Killed, just as Satan can not Kill you, he can only influence you and if your Faith is not true and strong, It may seem that "the Devil made me do it" would come true, in fact it was you that did it because you did not have a strong Faith in our TRUE Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST.
So Satan can not be killed by actions, he can, on the other hand, be DEFEATED by your Faith in Jesus Christ Our Lord And Savior.
God Bless to one and all, (yea, God Bless Satan also)

Because there needs to be a balancing force. I have held the belief that Satan works for God. We must have free will, and if there is no Satan, then there is no source for us to come up with evil, so then, we don't have the free will to do evil if we so choose. Thus, Satan must work for god because he hasn't beaten him, yet he must exist and be powerful because of the free will factor.
