We moved from a tiny town to a bigger town in June 2006. I hate living here, I really do. I mean I have friends and all, and they are cool. But I am always unhappy no matter what I do. I wish I could move back home, but there is no way my mother will even consider that!!!!!!

Having moved a lot when I was a kid and then even more as an adult I've got to say you will be as happy in a place as you let yourself be. If you know you aren't going to have the option to move back home try concentrating on enjoying where you are. Concentrate on doing fun things with your new friends and enjoying any amenities the new town has to offer. Truly look at the things where you are that make you happy.

I'm not saying cut ties with your old home, though. Keep in contact with your friends if you have up until now. See if you can plan a visit back even if you can't move back. If you get to visit or have friends that can do it for you get pics and videos of your favorite places to remember them.

It's amazing how much you'll remember about your old home. I had the chance to take my husband back to one of the towns I grew up in and seeing what was the same and what was different was fun. I remembered a lot of the good times and it was fun to be there again. But going back was not the same and it never can be.

Even if you've only been away less than a year your old town has changed as have you. Keep the good memories but go out and build some more of them.

It is all up to you. I know that this is not where you want to be, but it is what you make of it. If you are determined to be unhappy, you will be. If you decide to make the most of the situation you are in and to be content with it you will be happy. It will never be the same no matter what you do. Remember different is different not better or worse. Your attitude toward the situation will determine your future.
