Shudder. I wish bibles could be sold with a warning sticker: "Contents not fit for human consumption."

"Spare the rod, spoil the child." That is what the Bible teaches, so that is what Christian parents are obligated to do. The Bible never specifies what a "rod" is, or how often it is to be used, or how hard, so the sky's the limit, I guess. The Bible is a dangerous book that should be banned. Beating a child only teaches him that it's okay to use violence to pursuade people to do as you want them to. But then, isn't that what God does on every page of the Bible?

Found this on another site ... children may be disciplined for the slightest of infractions, and are expected to demonstrate complete control over their emotions and their diets. Children are expected to sit through hours long worship services without any fidgeting or demonstrating inattentiveness.
This cult seems to be growing since there are presently over 130 fellowships in 130 cities throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and the Bahamas ... scary!

It IS very frightening to see how some people can read the Bible and get the idea that beating your kids is OK.
And isn't it strange that they don't see any of the passages about treating others as you would want to be treated?
So many of these small "church" groups follow a leader who is obviously ( to others) unhinged mentally. And they don't seem to see it, until something awful happens.
Or they get in so deep that they don't know how to get out of it.

I hate these so-called "fundamentalist" churches that spring up and totally distort and misrepresent the Bible. They end up doing nothing more than giving the non-believers more ammunition for their disbelief and deceiving those who DO believe but are not strong enough to defend their faith and the Bible properly.

Unfortunately almost any religion can attract the kind of fundamentalist nutcase who would take their worship to these extremes.
Defending and protecting one's children is probably the most powerful urge found in most people. Yet these psychos killed their offspring in an effort to impress God.
Come to think of it, considering His track record of senseless murder, He would probably be pleased... if He actually existed.

It is sure frightening. Untrained human thought is capable of all evil in the name of good. It is a lesson the world needs to learn.

Yes. You have to question the sanity of anyone giving out instructions such as this, and the person willing to follow the instructions.

It is sickening. This couple obviously had mental problems. It is terrible how fundamental religions turn insane acts of hate and paranoia into "reasonable" behavior.

This is where human irrationality always leads. I don't have much hope for the future of humanity. Our capacity for destruction grows exponentially, and our intellects mature at glacial speed.

A lot of people in this world are totally bonkers.
