Whatever you believe spiritually, can you possibly agree with the statements on this video just because they involve the word "God"? Earlier, someone claimed to be angry because I "had a problem" and no ideas for a solution. (He was also a bit ticked that I had somehow insulted "his" religion). My solution? Recognize that this country was supposedly founded on the notion of freedom, and religious autocracy anywhere is dictatorial. People need to stop blaming homosexuals for "moral decay" and recognize that terrorism everywhere - it is not part and participle of Islam only, nor did it begin because someone was gay. The hatred exhibited by these politicians and leaders is no different than the rhetoric Saddam Hussein used to spew. How is such blatant hypocrisy reasonable? How does one reconcile freedom with an insistence upon one religion?

It probably comes from misinterpretations of "Holy" manuscripts, whether the Koran, Torah, OT, NT, or whatever.

With the Bible, misinterpetations start with "In the beginning" and what that meant then and to them, and what it means now and to us. Actually, I seem to recall the original creation story didn't say "God" in the original hebrew text it said "our first great tribal leader". Of course my memory may fail me, but that was in there at the start of the creation story.

Now, if you had just heard Jesus preaching for hours on end, and he was known to you as a messenger from God, and he said, You can only get to God through me; what would you think he was referring to? Did he not mean through his messages from God that he was giving us?

But, if you feel he meant through his blood, and through worshiping him, and through calling him the only true God, then of course you might scream to the world that Your way is the only way to get to Heaven, and that everyone else was going to Hell.

Freedom of speech doesn't carry much weight when you have been trained to hate all non-believers. Maybe, not hate, but I am sure you know what I mean.

In many ways you are correct. The reason we blame everyone and everything else is that it is easier than taking responsibility for our own behavior. Some religious people can be overbearing and very judgemental that is true. Others however display the total love of Christ to everyone they encounter. Hopefully I am one of those although I too have sinned and fallen short of what God wants from me.

Freedom is simply a respect for human beings...regardless of their religious leanings or sexual preferences. It is all fine and good to judge sin and to hate it but as a Christian we are also commanded not to hate the person who committed the sin. Jesus made the statement, "Let the one among you without sin cast the first stone." (Oddly enough, no one did) True Christians are told not to judge because they will eventually be judged also.

As far as a world religion is concerned, it will not happen as long as man alone is in charge. We are much to stubborn. However, one of the people answering your question did comment on the anti-Christ doing just that after the believers are taken away from this world. According to The Revelation of John (the last book in Christian Bibles) this will be the primary goal of the anti-Christ initially, supposedly to bring peace to the world. It does go on to say however that eventually He turns this one world religion into a "worship of him" as he will claim to be God. As you said, freedom can not be present where there is an insistence upon one religion. However, true freedom will come when the people of God are the only ones left as their worship will be voluntary.

Not to offend anybody but as a group extreme Christians (*clears throat* Protestant *clears throat more* extreme baptist) are more hypocrites then any other religion. They are the same ones who worship a Jew (Jesus) but say that God does like welcome Jews into his heaven. And first of all no where in the bible does it say that homosexuals are sinful people. This was a belief among monks back in the medieval times when catholics monks were not allowed wives and some monks become homosexual, it has just been passed down the years. I personally would not vote for any politician that does not believe in personal freedom and the separation from church and state. Just like you said these politicians are just like the words Saddam Hussein would have said. I applaud you on your views.

Obviously, such a scenario isn't, and never will be, viable. Our only real hope for a brighter future is for man to wake up to the folly of all superstitious belief and unite under a universal system of laws based on individual human rights, compassion and common sense,
