Yes, you can claim her and she can file taxes. She will need to claim "exempt" on her 1040, and there is a box that she will need to check that says "yes", someone can claim me as a dependent. She should get all of what she paid into federal back, and you will get the maximum amount allowed as if she didn't file.

TMA has the correct answer for whether you can claim her.
She might or might not need to file her own taxes. If you can claim her and she made over $5150 then she has to file. If she made less that that but had anything withheld for federal income taxes, she should file to get it refunded to her.

you can still claim your daughter as a dependent if she is under 19 (or a full-time student under age 24), she lived with you more than half the year, and she did not provide more than 50% of her own support.
she can file her own tax return and mark the box that says "dependent of another."

i assume you're talking about a daughter who has a interest, yet continues to be your depending. you're maximum ideal, you'll report your go back as you oftentimes would, and she'd report her personal returns if she needs to. For federal, if her earnings grow to be a minimum of $5350 from a interest with a W-2, or $400 from self employment, she's required to report - if she made decrease than that yet some thing grow to be withheld, she ought to report to get it refunded to her. She also needs to report a boss go back.

As far as I know if your child was able to support herself, you would not claim them as a dependent. The easiest way to examine this is by asking was your child dependent on you for survival. Also, your child cannot claim her self as a dependent if you claim her.
