That is almost impossible to answer given the total lack of info that you have provided.
What is the car doing?
The reason I say this is because the ECM controls so many functions of the engine and transmission that all kinds of things could potentially happen due to a bad ECM. And on the other hand, all kinds of things could be mistakenly blamed on an ECM.

i own a repair shop,and if the ecm goes bad you,ll know it,but the vehicle will still run it has preset mode programmed in to it,that in case the main part goes out it reverts back to this setting,but it will run bad,and get real bad gas mileage,but it was designed to run this way ,and you,ll get all kinds of trouble codes from it,but it will still run,it will get you to a repair shop,this was programmed in to it so it wouldn't leave you stranded in the middle of no-where,good luck with it,i hope this help,s.

most time if a ECM go's bad it will not run atall and you will not have no spark at the spark plugs Good luck
