So because you don't believe in the Bible it means that the comment has to be witty. I'm not trying to be witty but that is just ignorant. But if he exists(nobody really know) then I would asks him if I could take my son and or daughter's place. If not i would say no but then again i would have a hard time I was talking to God and if I was I would go in shock and faint or something.

If God wanted to use you to do what He did with Abraham I'm sure He would test me to just the same way. Abraham knew God well enough to know that even if He did sacrifice his child unto the Lord his child would still be in good hands in heaven. For to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Abraham thru his obediance became the father of many nations and an example of how we should trust God. We should trust God with our whole hearts minds and soul and spirits. If God ask you to do something you never have to fear. Just trust just like our father Abraham. Amen!!!!!!!

Back in the day when God actually talked to people if He asked me to I would, but since God stopped speaking to people (and it is in the Bible that he stopped speaking to us and to watch out for false gods) I would know whatever was trying to get me to sacrifice my child was not God. Of course its easier said then done though, I would want to do whatever God asks of me but that doesn't mean I would like what I have to do. I have faith and I know that God knows everything and even though I don't understand I know that He has reasons for everything and I have no right to question. Knowing this helps me through hard times.

How would you know it was god and not an evil demon? How would you know you weren't going insane? If you can't analyze god on any sort of fact based cognitive level (god is popularly described as having infinite capacities...human beings have finite capacities)...how can you ever conclude that who is talking to you is "god." In fact...how can you ever "know" god period? What separates Andrea Yates from Abraham? The fact that Abraham didn't kill his kids because an "angel" intervened? Was Andrea Yates talking to god? If not...how do you know?

This is the problem with god and faith.

Abraham didn't sacrifice his son.He was willing but believed God would raise him up because God promised his son was a promise from God (symbol of Jesus). Jesus did die for all siiers and rose again.

Now, why would God do that? Unless you're willing to stipulate that God is, in fact, not benevolent but malevolent. Which in turn would mean that he/she has HUMAN emotions, thereby defeating the idea of an omnipotent deity.

Really, you people need to come up with something a little more clever - it's just getting way too easy to poke holes in your flimsy beliefs.

Yes. if it's truly from Him. Anyway, the children are His.. ANd i can rest assured that my children are in heaven.. But i think to be sure that it is His voice, we should have a strong relationship with Him. Coz that's the only way He'd talk clearly to us.. Otherwise, ask ur spiritual father first if the voice was really from God..

Not right away...............because God doesn't speak openly to people anymore. Not like in the Old Testament. He seemed to have a lot of time to talk with people then. Now the only way to hear him is to have faith and that would probably land you in prison because it would be hard to prove.

There have been several people in recent history who have "sacrificed" their children because god told them so. They are usually tried in a court of law and convicted of murder ... and that's after they lay their hand on the bible and swear to tell the whole truth. Define irony.
