Computer Science, as its name says, is more scientifically and technically-oriented ...by this I mean you become an expert in building computers and hardware, setting up networks, building electrical circuits, and you acquire all the technical skills to develop software. You get to know a lot about math, physics and all that.
The Information Technology graduate, in the other hand, is an expert in taking advantage of the computer systems to help enterprises make the best decisions and do business in a better way.
The IT major is sort of a hybrid of administration and engineering, if you want to look at it that way. While you learn a little bit of software development and hardware, you also have a bunch of classes regarding administration, accounting, economy, marketing, statistics, electronic commerce, e-business, etc...
At least that's the way it is in the University where I am...the Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico City, but should be similar everywhere in the world. It's a tricky decision to choose either one of both. Both of them have their good things.
I entered University as a student of Computer Science Engineering, but switched to Information Technology after the second semester as I'm not a big fan of actually building things such as circuits and complicating myself with physics and all that.
Which of them is better than the other depends on your profile. I for one am enjoying the Information Technology major a lot... It will eventually be up to you to choose the one that suits you best.
Good luck!
