As an intern (1st year) about 80 hours per week, including every 4th night in the hospital, where you are unlikely to get any sleep. The hours and on-call schedule relax a little for years 2 and 3.
It is *perfectly appropriate* to ask about this!
Done.

I know that Family practitioner Medical doctors go the school around 8 years before graduating to be a Doctor. A Doctor that wants to specialize in Pediatrics or any specialty must go through 2 to 4 more years of training just to be a 'Pediatic MD. or DO.(doctor of othopathy) I am not a Doctor just a patient that was fortunate to be treated at the Mayo clinic in Minnasota by an ENT, professor that taught other Doctors to become Eye , ear, and nose specialist Doctors. Thanks to these dedicated people I am still around!

Lots and lots of them. Hence the term "residency". You all but live there.
Different programs will be different, but you can expect overnight, in-house call every few nights for 3 years. Screaming kids every few nights for 3 years. Personally, I'd rather poke a sharp stick in my eye, but somebody has to do it.
Good luck with that.
Seriously, if you don't have the drive to work hard in residency, you won't get anywhere in medicine. It's not for the lazy.

any residency (as well as the joruney to get to that point) is going to be hard. you're going to work long hours at some point in your medical career, regardless of the speciality. that said, pediatrics is one of the less competitive programs to get into. it's not like dermatology or certain kinds of surgery.

For you to even ask this question indicates that you need to be looking at some other profession. Treating kids is not something you can do on a clock!

if you are already worried about how hard it is and how much time you spend then you are worried about the wrong thing and i would say you don't have the correct focus to go thru with something that takes dedication
