they do not routinely ask that, but if it was asked it was likely in respect to avoid complications from being put under anesthesia.

Right off I can think of 5 surgeries that I've had. Not once did they ask me if I was abused. I don't know why they would have said that to you unless they thought that maybe you were. The only thing I can think of was my son busted his lip on my table. When I took him to the ER they asked him if I beat him. He was like 4 years old. I darn near killed everybody in the ER. How dare they. But other than that I've never heard of it. Maybe if you are young they are just giving you a chance to say something if you need to.

Reasons being internal bleeding, concussions or others, those kind of injuries can be problematic without the complications of surgery to go with it. For example, you get hit in the head and suffer from an aneurysm they doctor doesn't want that thing to rupture on the table. I know it is an extreme example.

depends on the type of surgery and which part of your body is concerned. if you have bruises all over your abdomen for example and you are bleeding out of your anus or vagina, then they definitely need to know if that was caused by a blunt force or there must be something wrong with your organs themselves before they operate. for other surgeries, im sure, doctors wont ask them if they arent relevant.

? i dont think so, but it probably depends on the type of surgery your having...also it might depend on if you have signs and symptoms of being abused
