God doesn't exist. However, the Bible was written long ago in a very patriarchal society. Women were considered little better than pets. They were property. Women were not treated equally back then and the Bible reflects that.

You ask the question of Christians, then turn around and mock us. If you want an answer then listen. Most of the time unbelievers do take things out of context, that can not be disputed, you just do. The words you are talking about concern the custom of the day and not the Words or command of God. When God speaks a command it is usually followed with "thus sayth the Lord." He did not do this in this case. Christ was very clear on His treatment of woman that He has respect for woman, children and men.

YES, Let's look at the evidence!
Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Now that we have established the equality of the genders, let's ask ourselves: Why would Paul have written what he did in 1 Cor 14?
Looking back at the culture of Corinth in the 1st Century, we see temple cults that used women as temple prostitutes. WOW, talk about abuse of women!
When the women spoke out in Christian churches, they made their cause look bad because people who visited the Christian churches, they saw little difference between the religion the women had left behind, and what they were doing in the churches! For the good of the church, and their witness as new Christians, they had to be different from their old lives.
You did not give the whole chater of 1 Cor 14, so there is no context provided, so get out your Bible and read it for yourself.
You raise this objection because you think you are kicking Christians in the teeth, I say you are here asking this question because God is drawing you to Himself:
John 6:44
"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day."
God IS calling you to himself, it is up to you to respond appropriately:
Mark 1:15
and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel."

Part of Jesus' radicalism was his spending time with women.
Yes, that was a very Patriarchal time, and few women ever challenged it.
It's necessary to remember, too, that the Bible has been re-written thousands of times over the years. Plus, in the times before now, only men were educated enought to read and write--only very elite men. I bet some of those guys were on the take, and made extra money by making requested changes in the texts for the right amount of money.
Kept the little women in line that way, I'll bet.
Just my $.02, but mine means as much as anyone else's.

Since you won't get a satisfactory response from christians, I will say a little something on their behalf. "You took the words out of context" really means "There is no valid response, but since I am too stupid to question the book which condones this crap, I'll blow you off with some meaningless cop out so I don't have to do anything that makes my head hurt, like THINK"

The ancient Church was sexist, yes. Some of it still is. But God is only sexist if you believe that the Christian Church was writing the word of God, as opposed to, say, their own ideas.

the church will never reveal that revelations from the time of jesus till muhammad, god has elevated women as equal to men...
but men still shall lead as it is written that :
syaitan (satan) was having a hard time to convince adam to eat the sacred apple (since he's been around for ions with the other angels)
but he managed to convince eve to convince adam to eat the apple (thus, relating to current situation, women wearing the pants in the family a.k.a queen control (^_^) )
men are harder to break thru...
(it's still an ongoing discussion between the imams and clerics)
HE ain't sexist...
HE knows what's going on...
we just gotta learn and move on...

No, God is not a sexist. God created man and woman equal. Men and women have different roles however, in the family and church. Just as men are leaders in the family, we are also appointed to be leaders in the church. The fact that we have different roles, does not make us unequal because God created men and women equal, just with different roles. www.equip.org

Of course he is! All over the bible, there are implications that women are not equal to men.
Basically, "All people are equal, but some are more equal than others."
More "equal" are the men. Women always are supposed to be meek and, really, not talk at all. Unless spoken to. Like a servant or slave.
