Why not both?

i thought it was an excellent read...full of interesting characters and allegory. i thought the ending sucked, tho. i heard the author drank a lot, partied with hemingway quite a bit, and was a rather egocentric maniac when it came to women (which would explain his dichotomy in female characters, they were either all good or all bad.) i believe he had a complete breakdown before finishing the last book of the new testament, he was oft plagued with flying horses (the pegasus syndrome.)

all in all i would recommend it to anyone, how ever there is a vast following who take this book extremely seriously and it has attained a cult following of sorts. much like the reputed "white album" of the beatles, and some rob zombie movies. i think the seriousness of these groups causes the book to lose some attractiveness to the mass population.

it has been on the best seller list for awhile, and is often said to be the number one selling book of all time (i wonder, in light of katherine hepburns autobiography, if this is the case)

i must add that there are claims that have been made to "missing chapters" in which even the vatican has been blamed. i think it is entirely possible considering one of the most dynamic characters of the book, jesus of nazareth, is apparently unwritten of for twenty years of his life. is this a trick on the part of the author or was he already heavily involved in growing shrooms at this point? we may never know.

all in all i will give it a thumbs up.

Without Christ in your heart and the Holy Spirit to lift the veil from your eyes spiritually, the Bible would be both boring and bull to you. However, when The Holy Spirit removes the veil and allows you to see the heart of God, there is nothing as exciting and real to a person.

The buy-bull is boring. Boring a hole through people's brains.

bull. I find it kind of interesting. Kind of reminds me of other stories and books like: Utnapishtim from the Epic of Gilgamesh (Noah's Arc), and Egyptian Mythology.

I'd have to go with bull. After all, it makes a pretty good read--murder, sex, adultery, greed, violence, torture....They'd have to do some hardcore editing to put it on tv.
