How many of the military would obey a direct order to..?

Question

go door to door in the United States demanding the firearms of all the citizenry? It has already happened in New Orleans after Katrina. That was a test. A test of the military's willingness and of the people's compliance.

It will very likely happen again on a grand scale. I hope those who have sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States (all military and law enforcement personnel) will remember their oath and recognize an unlawful order when they receive it.

Prepare yourselves for the second revolution.

I have personally seen the video of national guard troops working together with the police to accomplish this door to door seizure. It was not just the police. Some people say that is fine but if they ever pull that stunt in a "red" county there will be bloodshed. Just a fact of the good ol' U.S. of A.

First of all lets get the facts straight the only reason they were disarming civilians carrying weapons was because they were getiing shot at the quickest way to get help to everybody was to disarm them. They were not going door to door taking weapons as you said. they went to give assistance if you were armed they disarmed you. And it was law enforcement doing that not the military. National guard fell under law enforment during Katrina.

Why was this a test of the military's willingness to disarm Americans? There was no mention of the military actually disarming anyone. The local police force under the police chief had the authority to disarm people under special circumstances. I am in the military and I would in no way disobey an order to disarm a civilian. I am a huge believer in the 2nd Amendment but all through American history rights of citizens have been temporarily suspended for the common good. Lincoln suspended Habeus Corpus during the Civil War!!! Politicians can assume emergency powers over many different situations.

Lastly, many arguments have been made that the right to bear arms only relates to militia or National Guard activities since the Constitution clearly states, "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." I am not going to take a stand on this other than to say that temporarily disarming New Orleanians after a disaster such as Katrina in light of the situation is not a serious situation. Now, going door to door disarming people just any old day of the week will raise some eyebrows especially from the Supreme Court.

I don't believe there is enough evidence here to make a case for the 2nd Amendment being usurped by the government.

Maybe you should read the Posse Comitatus Act ? Its a law that prohibits Federal military personnel and units of the United States National Guard under Federal authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within the United States, except where expressly authorized by the Constitution or Congress.

The guns that where taken where taken by local law enforcement personnel.

brodieboi, since when did the national guard become puppets for the state?? their allegiance is supposedly for upholding the Constitution, same as any other military branch,
this is the problems our forefathers tried to warn us about with a all volunteer army, where the men are professional soldiers,and will obey orders from their superiors no matter what the order is, so if we continue to let our government have a all volunteer army we are just asking to be enslaved, and our Zionist owned government knows this, how shameful that at least some of our representatives don't balk and explain this to our people, surely all of them have not sold us out, I do believe you are right when you say this was a test, and the real thing is just around the corner,

Members of the US Armed Forces are sworn to obey all lawful orders. They are also required to disobey and report all un-lawful orders.

BTW - I don't know what drugs you are on but nobody went 'door-to-door' confiscating weapons. The only weapons that were seized were ones that were being carried openly in the street (in defiance of the law) - and the persons doing this were arrested by the _civilian_ police.

I am a very strong supporter of the 2nd amendment, but i do support what the officers were doing in LA. With the displacement of tens of thousands citizens, with almost no guarantee of even returning for months, they were trying to stop the guns from getting in looters hands.
When i first heard about this, i couldnt believe it. I couldnt believe they were trampling on the constitution like that, but after giving it great thought, and listening to people open-mindedly, i realized that was a very safe thing to do.
I did alot of reading on this, and the majority of those people who were gun owners, and gave up their weapons, supported it. They were not allowed back into their homes for months, and entire cities were evacuated. This means criminals could go door to door collecting weapons, whos going to stop them, the gun owners?

these are the same locals that refused to leave a low lying area with a HUGE hurricane coming towards them..............yeah I think I would not want them armed in the coming days.

You see we on the other hand had made sure our stuff was packed along with guns and permits and dogs and papers and food and water JUST in case it swung our way.

New Orleans folk were shooting at our helicopters while we were trying to do evac missions. Some of them should damn well have thier guns takin away. In some cases I wouldnt need a direct order to take a weapon, stupid people should not own a weapon.

I agree with you totally. If I was given that order I would protest it, but certainly not in a way that would bring a lot of attention to myself. I would refuse to do it, even if I did get court Marshalled.
