Most doctors recommend that you shouldn't wear a tampon for more than 8 hours at a time, especially a "super" one. There are risks with Toxic Shock Syndrome, which had a big scare back in the late 70s or early 80s (when I was first getting my period). Back then, you didn't dare wear a tampon for more than a few hours. They've since changed how the tampons are constructed, but TSS is still a risk with tampons. Every box of tampons includes a directions sheet that discusses how long you can leave the tampon in. Follow those directions! I will wear one overnight, though.

Actually on the tampon box it clearly says that it is safe to wear up to 8 hours, but that is the maximum. So If you sleep for about 7 1/2 each night, i would say you'd be pretty safe. But I would only try it on a school night so I know I would wake up before I had one in for more than 8 hours so I don't get TSS.

A tampon should not be left in for more than 8 hours other you can contract TSS.
Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is caused by the bacterium Stapylococcus aureus, which is commonly found in the nose and vagina. It is a micro organism which is found in normal healthy people. The majority of all Stapylococcus aureus strains do not produce toxins which can cause TSS and only very few strains do. Whether TSS develops or not depends on the presence or absence of antibodies against these toxins. Most women but not all do have a protective level of antibodies against the toxins. Absence of protective antibodies can lead to TSS.

Not true.
You should change your tampon every 6-8 hours to minimize the risk of TSS.
But you may get up in the night to pee, so just change your tampon then.

YOU SHOULD ALWAYS USE TAMPONS ACCORDING TO YOUR FLOW BECAUSE OF TSS. I'M A HEAVY BLEEDER, SO I WILL WEAR A TAMPON TO BED. IN ANY CASE YOU SHOULDN'T WEAR THE SAME TAMPON MORE THAN 8 HOURS. READ THE PACKAGE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

I wore them to bed for over 20 years. As far as TSS there is a test that you can get done. It tells you if you are susceptible to it or not. I slept long hours too. I know it wasn't right but I didn't have any problems.

you shouldn't wear the same tampon for more than 6-8 hours.

many gynecologists recommend against it, since the risk of toxic shock increases the longer one is worn. it is difficult to monitor any side effects if u r sleeping.
