First of all, it may depend on how bad your heart is broken. Also, forgetting about it, impossible. When you break your heart it's impossible to forget why and when it happened. Lets be realistic. I had the same problem, now I remember it and now I don't care anymore, I see it as a waste of time but through out time you'll realize it should of happened. Of course, it also depends on who was at fault.
Now the question, how to repair your heart, they've all said it, time. You can't take a medication that relieves you from a broken heart, maybe a heart pain, but not a broken heart. And as far as meeting someone when you're heart-broken, I wouldn't recommend it. Emotionally and in terms of strength and how much you can take is not enough to handle another relationship as of right now. Let things drip down and don't do a common stupid habbit of getting drunk, it does NOT work. I believe you have friends and now is a good time to rely on them. Hang out more often and enjoy this freedom. Don't expect true love as of now and enjoy life responsibly.

I wish I could tell you there is a magical cure, but I won't lie breakups can actually make you physically feel as if your heart has been torn into little tiny pieces. The best thing I've done is trying to keep busy, try doing things with friends and family who love and support you, this reminds you that there are peope out there who care about you. Please don't allow yourself to wallow in should haves/ could haves, because this will only make things worse. Try volunteering your time to a special charity to help others. Trust me it will get better just give it time. Remember to look for the light at the end of the tunnel don't focus on the clouds, they are just temporary. Good Luck.

Some one said that trust your fellow too much, in the end you will get a good friend or a good lesson. If the other breaks your heart at least you would get a great lesson beneficial for your whole life. Time cures the broken heart, after a year a man forgets every bitter behavior by others.

for all the people that say time will heal a broken heart... not always... it does take time but you also have to put effort into it. If you spend all your time thinking about what could have been or what happened, time will not make a difference. First you have to get it out of your mind. Try focusing on something else. Build something... sew... pray... watch comedy central... just dont think about it... and you will eventually heal. Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear that.
As previously stated, you can't "fix a broken heart."
I spent years trying not to love someone, then spent more years working on accepting that I will always love him. So, work on accepting how you feel instead of denying it.
And take responsibility for your actions in the relationship, & make your peace.
Now, if you're asking what you should do to not think about this person--that's impossible. But, just go on with your life like you always have. You will feel like an imposter, but one day, you will feel like you again.
Good luck, and know that you're not alone.

well i had a broken heart a couple years ago... all you have to do is forget about all the bad things that happened and laugh too much, take too many pictures and have a great time because every 60 seconds of your life you spend being sad is 60 seconds of happiness you will NEVER get back!
