i have everything but the chocolate, and its a very important part of the recipie. what should i do?

I would think you could use the syrup; be careful to decrease the amount of liquid in the pudding to compensate for the liquid in the syrup. Also remember that the syrup has quite a lot of sugar in it, so you may want to decrease the amount of sugar in the recipe as well, although I think that's less critical than the liquid.

sorry - i looked everywhere for another recipe or a substitution equivalant for u-- you are going to have to make something else or hit the store running!

You can use Hershey's syrup, but it will not have the same result.
I would go to the store.
