It's a joke. You would have thought it was hilarious if it had happened to the guy next to you.

I'd let it depend on more than just this one incident. Kids *are* going to test the borders... If any time a kid fools around with sexual slurs or something similar, I would definitely let them know it's not appropriate but after that I would not get too upset. Letting it slide completely isn't right since of course it *isn't* appropriate -'testing the borders' only works when adults make it clear when the kids cross them! But getting too upset might work the wrong way too, that might give them encouragement to try again if they're the 'bully' type instead of the 'just testing' kind.
If I did get the impression this kid is a bully or otherwise a true problem kid -that'd be a judgement I'd make mostly on such things happening more often, rather than on the one incident alone- then I'd see about speaking to the kids' parents and if that didn't work, I wouldn't have the kid over anymore. There's no reason you should have to put up with behaviour like this if it *is* more than a single (inapropriate, but still single) joke.

Here is the deal, you can either be a wuss, and do nothing, or do something. I personally would have done something like reach over, grab their ear, and twist. I would then have told the little snot if they were looking for something, then they have found it, and that they should be wary about the choices they make in life ;)
**********************
o Aside from a hurt ear, the other kid would have been able to walk away
o I would fully expect getting reprimanded by adults, but then would not have cared about it.
o This would establish yourself as a "kid not to be trifled with"
o you might have to meet this other kid in a private one to one face off. - Don't be the first to blink, be cool, and don't let them get to you. When they see you are cooler and tougher than they are, they will be cool to you.
o You might feel guilty of hurting this other kids ear. Does this compare to the pain you felt when you were embarrassed? I say that it is comparable, and verbal abuse is just as bad as physical abuse (which you just so kindly taught this young child).

That was indeed entirely inappropriate! I cannot believe that they would encourage such a "joke". Don't let this one slide. You must peaceably approach the one who made the joke and ask him not to continue in its propagation. If he does not comply bring this to the attention to your parents. They should be able to deal with this adequately enough.

It depends. Is he a valued friend or a pain?If he's a friend, tell him to knock it off .Ask him if he thought it would be funny if you had done it to him.If he's a punk, knock the hell out of him for insulting your mom.

I don't think you should do anything about it...but it wasn't particularly funny. Rise above it, I spose, or demand sadisfaction and shoot the little bastard dead at twenty paces.
