This is the best combo I have found. I have had Quantum and Shimano as well, but I like the Browning set up the best. This combo runs about $140.00 While you can spool up to 8 lb. test on it, I use a 2 lb. mono. Great outfit and the rod is a two piece so it is easy to pack. The whole thing together probably doesn't weigh much more than a pound and a half. Hope this helps.

The Silstar Tiny is the smallest spinning reel I've ever seen and it balances great with my Zebco Micro-lite rod. It's so light, it's hard to get a good hook set but it's a blast trying to land fish on 2 pound test line.

I've got a berkely trout rod. It's about 5 ft long and flimsy as a willow stick. It's the lightest rod I've found by far. It makes most fly rods look stiff.

i personally like the quantum reels on a berkley cherrywood rod for ultra-lite fishing.
i spool my reel with 4lb trilene, and my rod is 5' ultra lite.
it is good for fishing 1/16-1/8 oz jigs or inline spinners.also good for live bait fishing, worms, crickets so on.
i take it with me when i go catfishing to catch bluegill for bait.

I don't know, but I use this combo:
Quantum energy spinning reel,
Quantum octane ultralight rod.
P-line xtra strong 8lb line.
I LOOOOVE it, and we have lots of combos at our house. It's my favorite.
