I'm getting an ATI Procharger for my 1996 V6 Mustang and the guy that I'm buying it from told me that I might have problems if I run the supercharger at 11lbs of boost on 91 octane. Can I do this? I was planning on getting it dynoed and tuned after the install. is anybody else running this setup?

Thanks for your help!

The guy said that if I set timing back, that it would make just as much power if I ran 7 or 9lbs of boost.

ATI Procharger makes an 11psi intercooled supercharger. I don't think they would make an 11psi kit (standard) for 94-98 if it wasn't somewhat safe. any thoughts? Anyone running this?

Also I've invested alot in suspension and sound so I don't want to sell this car and completely start over. The motor has 120K miles on it and was planning on replacing the motor with a Morana motor after this one let up.

11 PSI on a 96 V6 is going to hammer that engine, it will not last too long with that much boost. The money would be better spent starting with a GT with a forged bottom end that will handle boost better. You could pick up the same body style (94-98) GT with a 5 liter (94 or 95) or a 4.6 (96-98). Could you run boost on your 96? Sure, but it won't be a whole lot of fun when you dump that money into a blown V6 and it hand grenades and then you have to start over.

The speed shop should be able to set it up to run on 91. Though I question how long you 10 year old motor will last with that much boost. I give you maybe 5 to 10k on the motor, Transmission or differential at best before one or all of them Grenades. The people selling these bolt on Super Chargers never tell you how long you motor or drive train will last when they sell them so don't be surprised. Good luck

11psi is a big boost to the engine. I'm not too sure I'd go that high. The lower end of your engine may not bear the load. Were you planning on rebuilding the engine before this upgrade? Consider beefing up the engine and transmission as part of this modification. Good luck.

don't even try 11 lbs, you will waste the engine in a few minutes
