Hey, I'm pretty ignorant about cars, but I'm really low on power steering fluid. I have a 2001 Ford Focus and its about empty. I know I can pick up regular power steering fluid on my way to work, but my question is does it matter if I pick up a particular brand or will any do? Thanks for any help

Ford is weird in that Ford Power steering fluid is actually Mercon or Mercon V transmission fluid... Don't use power steering fluid or it will cause the seals to leak among other things

Ford recently announced that the use of Mercon V ATF is now able to be used in power steering systems.

Ask if you need to cross with a Ford type fluid. Older Fords used automatic transmission fluid.
