When you get married..what ring is suppose to go on first...the wedding band or the engagement ring? Does it matter? If so why?

Once you are married the band goes on first. It is supposed to be closest to your heart. The band signifies the vows that you take.

When getting married, you put the wedding band on first, then your engagement ring. You wear the wedding band closest to your heart. The engagement can be worn on another finger until after the wedding ceremony, that way, you don't have to remove the wedding band, when switching the rings around.

During your actual ceremony, keep your engagement ring on first. Then switch them. I asked this same question to my mom when I got married and she told me that the wedding band goes on first because it's supposed to be closest to your heart.

the wedding band has to go on first you need to take off the engagement ring while the ceremony is going on.

I've seen both...the day of my wedding, I put my engagement ring on my right hand, then after the ceremony, I slipped it on with my band.

It is a personal decision as to which way you wear it. In my family, or some reason, the engagement rings stays on and the wedding band is on the outside of the finger...that is the way I will wear mine too...also...not to be crass but if I lose one of them...I rather lose the wedding band cause it's cheaper to replace.

The wedding band goes on first, with the engagement ring overtop, to protect it. Of course it matters.

engagment ring is first- thats being engaged and call each other "fiance"
the wedding band comes after. i dont know thats just the way it goes.
