Weapons from Iran....?

From all that is is the news now about weapons being delived from Iran to be used against the U.S. and "the new" Iraq. Your opinion of what should America do about it?

Do you remember that Iran & Iraq were in a war that lasted over 8 years? I'm not too surprised that we can "suddenly" find some shells from Iran in Iraq. How convenient. The President making threats against Iran & wonder of wonders, shells are found in Iraq from Iran!
I have a vague notion that if Congress doesn't get off it's can & take back the power of 1 person being allowed to take this country to war, we are going to be either attacking Iran or prevoking them to attack us. Is this becoming some Holy Christian Crusade? Sure hope not! The Christians have been there & done that & in the end, lost! We have a lot more to lose now than we did then; lets not go there again.
Is it not possible that the fanitac's have used those shells? Perhaps they did get them from Iran, that doesn't mean that Iran sold to them. It really doesn't mean much of anything in my book, other than a reason to presume that Iran is involved in this un-Holy war between two waring factions in Iraq. Presumed, not proven!

That's a tough question - Here's what I would LIKE to see us do - we need to continue destabilizing the terror governments in the Middle East, and that's likely to go Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia, in that order.

We should cut the Green Berets loose to get the popular revolt (that's simmering just under the surface) going. There are all sorts of bomb attacks, assassination attempts, demonstrations, and so on. People forget that prior to Carter's screw ups, Iran was a Western style power with Women in government, education, and so on. They miss it and most folks are getting really, really fed up with the mullahs. They've found out that sometimes the devil you know - the Shah - is better than the one you don't - The Ayatollahs.

Then, after about 6 months of letting the Green Berets work their magic, let the SAS (if we can get the Brits and Aussies to help us out again), and the SEALs go in and get busy for about another 2 weeks while we ramp up the rhetoric.

Then, we cut the USAF and USN loose. Exterminate the Iranian Air Force (what there is left of it), Air Defenses, Navy, and Coastal Artillery - especially their ASMs. Let the Navy make sure that the Straits of Hormuz stay open. Make sure their nuclear sites are repeatedly hammered.

If, by then, the Iranians haven't tossed the mullah's out on their ears - which I expect before it gets to this point - we send in ground troops. I would think about 4 Divisions would be enough to finish off the mullahs, and then get the hell out. Let the Iranians settle it out themselves. Back to the bases in Iraq and start thinking about Syria.

Without Iranian training, materiel, and funding, the insurgency in Iraq is gone. Syria will probably wet itself to cut off the flow of foreign fighters and cut a deal. That just leaves Saudi Arabia, a much tougher nut to crack.

IS this going to happen? Probably shortly after they've determined that Hell has obtained an average temperature of 20F.

Remember, we've known the Iranians have been supplying weapons, men, training, and explosives to the fight in Iraq for a very long time.

It's different for Iran than it was for Iraq. We don't have to take over that country w/ our troops; we can destroy it from the air, and let someone else worry about putting it back together.We've given them every chance, in the past 20 yrs., to stop trying to use extortion and blackmail against us.
We need to stop trying to suck-up to those countries who criticize our policies, and yet they feel fine about promoting and pursuing their own self-interests.
It's time for us to take a break from trying to be the saint amongst a bunch of sinners.

I am one that wants our Government to abandon Iraq. Let the stupid peoples fight amongst themselves. It is only a matter of time that the US will not need the oil. Until then we are stuck in our predicament.
