I am thinking about getting my first tattoo on my birthday in July and I don't know what to get. I mean, I think I want a lily flower somewhere or my name. I'm a writer and my friend suggested that I get a tattoo that says writing is my passion with some sort of picture. For my first tattoo I want to get something small though. Help please

Take your time thinking about this. Chose not only the tattoo, but where to put it very carefully. Then check out picture books. If your thinking about a flower go to the book store and look through gardening books. Do not stick to the pictures that are in the books at the tattoo shop, someone already has those and many more will. It costs a little more to be unique but it is worth it. A tattoo is forever and you want it to be special.

A flower is a good choice, but sometimes they won't be able to draw them small because of the detail...it would just look like a blob. If you really want a flower you could get your birth flower (maybe thats why you wanted a lily). You could check the internet for symbols that stand for writer, you could get a piece of paper or scroll with the first few words/sentences of you fav piece that you have written with a pen writing it down. You could also get a symbol that stands for your nationality....the list is endless. Good Luck

For my first tattoo i got my starsign on my lower back, i was in the same predicament, couldn't decide what to get, i chose mt starsign as it represents who i am and that will never change. Just remember you mak not like that flower or even writing when you are older, things change but your starsign is forever!

since you like to write, get a tattoo of a pen. LOL seriously if you dont know what tattoos to get you shouldn't bother getting them. i got a few like that, now i'm touching them up to make it look like its something better.

don't get your name. people who get their name get it because they can't think of anything else to get, usually because they just don't put enough thought into it (my name was my first tattoo and it is now covered up!!) you have plenty of time between now and then to think of the perfect tattoo. why don't you get a tattoo of a book?

the best thing to do is go to a local shop and spit your ideas to a tattoo artist there, have him or her draw you a few things up and go from there, that what we pay tattoo artists for, once its down on paper so you can see it with your own eyes you'll know if its the right on ;), enjoy your new tat, welcome to the wonderful world of being inked!!!!
