It all starts and ends with the Daily Racing Form. The New York Post is actually a good source too, but the racing form is #1.

Actually the best place to really become a handicapper is the Daily Racing Form..........It's a matter of learning, or knowing how to read the charts/past performances and judging from there.....There are so many so called sure shot systems, books, tip sheets, etc. out there but think about it..........The only ones making money are the ones who wrote the books, systems, etc.......Once you start reading the Daily Racing Form and seeing a horse's chart, how he fairs in the mud or at a certain distance or the weight he carries you'll make your own judgements on what to bet and not put your money on someone else's touting..........It also helps a lot if you can watch the races on TV...........That's a great way to learn from without spending a cent........CAT

Just so everyone knows ALL data in the US is collected by one source and then disseminated to various groups including the DRF. What these other groups do with it is what counts. For the broadest range of materials and most interesting and in depth statical data there is no doubt that Bloodstock Research Information Services does the best job out there. They may be found at http://www.bris.net the Ultimate PP's at BRIS are far superior to what the DRF or Equibase produces. If you are interested in another interesting take on the day have a look at http://www.thorograph.com a little more complex and expensive but worth a look.
