Yes it does a little bit. you feel discomfort when you first get your spacers and braces in. After about a week or two your teeth feel better. Its just your teeth moving. You wont be able to eat solid foods for the first few days.

A little bit. It depends too of just how crooked your teeth are and if they have to pull out molars. For me it hurt because they extracted one of my molars, that's no fun, but it's tolerable. You just have to keep taking pills for the pain. The braces hurt because the wire was so far out there that it wedged on my cheek. And the end of the wire kept getting 'stuck' on my cheek. I got blisters. Every time i had the braces tightened it would hurt. You can't bite down on anything anymore cause your teeth are kind of loose, so you have to cut even cheese burguers into little pieces. But you get used to all of this, and while it hurts sometimes and it's unpleasant for a while, it's worth it when you get to see your new smile.

I just got braces today, well, I got the wires today. Honestly, when they put on the brackets (aka the little squares) the only part that hurts is the fact that they're stretching your mouth and you just want to slap them because they're stretching your lips and everything, but yeah. When I got the wires today, it didn't hurt at first, you just feel a little pressure. But now, it really pains me, but I can still eat and drink and all that, it just hurts, but I'm adjusting.

it doesnt hurt when they put them on
but afterwards it hurts a lot for about 2 weeks

in this time, you cannot eat anything thats not liquid. i lost like 10 pounds cause i couldnt eat nothing. it sucks.
if afterwards, your teeth get straight, so i guess it was worth it.
