In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Thats just the way he was meant to be. God has all things happen for a reason, without satan rebelling, we wouldnt have to choose between life and death and God wanted us to be able to choose and make the right choice. They both knew his destiny from the beginning but they just didnt change it because it was destiny. And again satan rebelled because thats who he was, he was so high up in power that he thought he was so great and powerful...

He had free will, he chose to misuse it. Just like Adam and Eve also misused free will.
Ask yourself: when was Satans so-called 'destiny' finalized? How could God punish Satan BEFORE he acted wrongly?? The answer is: God punished Satan after Satan acted in disobedience, not before. Much more reasonable to understand that 'divine mysteries'. Ask a Witness.

The same reason that you decided not to. We have all been given agency and freedom of choice. This is an eternal principle and God will never take away our freedom of choice. Satan, on the other hand, is all about enslavement, and would have banned freedom of choice. In addition, Satan wanted power and glory.

Satan is the christians scapegoat for evil. You should be asking Why did God need to create Satan if he is truly omnipotent he would have known Satan would have betrayed him. Free will is a cop out too.

Satan didn't know--only god is omniscient. I'm sure Satan thought he had a pretty good chance of winning when he started the whole thing.

Because he wanted to be God himself. Our position is the same as his, punishment and death are waiting for all of us, and still we don't want to obey God.

'cause he wants to tick off god with the time he has. it's inevitable, though. Satan and everyone else will bow to god and declare him as the Messiah
