You already know the answer to "cheap at Disneyland" but if you stamp your hand and walk across the street...you will find, IHOP, Tony Romas for Ribs, Denny's and there is a great Chinese place just to name a few.

Cheap and Disney don't typically go hand in hand. And if it is cheap, it typically isn't very good. The only decent food inside the park is the Blue Bayou - located inside the Pirates attraction. However, they have changed some of their menu items lately and their desserts aren't as good as they used to be.
For great food, leave the parks. Dine at either Downtown Disney or at one of the Disney Resorts. That is where you will find the best food. Disney's Grand Californian has a few great restaurants - and their food is average (about $10-$15 per person).
I love the Jazz Kitchen at Downtown Disney and the ESPN Zone has decent food for pretty cheap. Try those out!

Hmm, I would have to disagree with some of the previous posts.
I would agree that you can get your hand stamped and walk across the street to IHOP, Tony Roma's McDonald's, and even a Subway at Harbor/Katella and a Taco Bell north at Ball & Harbor.
However, there are some good options inside the park:
We eat a lot at Carnation Cafe on Main St. They serve good comfort food here. Just about everything on the menu is $7 to $12, and they will refill your drinks. Call 714-781-DINE to reserve a time to eat, which saves you much time NOT standing in line. You can reserve an hour ahead of time. Outdoor seating only, GREAT for people-watching.
The Plaza Inn serves very good chicken dinners, right up there with Mrs. Knott's chicken. My wife and I split a dinner and a salad, and order extra mashed potatoes. You can refill your drinks here for free, too. Dinner is $13 for chicken dinner, but there's also pasta. Salad is another $5 or so. Sorry, no call ahead on this one. This is located in the hub.
Red Rockett's Pizza Port in Tomorrowland offers a la carte Italian entrees that aren't too expensive. The pasta and lasagna are good because they'll give you the energy/carbs you need for a busy day. Once again, you can go back for free refills. No call ahead. You can eat inside or outside, but it's MUCH quieter outside watching the line for Space Mountain.
Cafe Orleans (in New Orleans square) serves New Orleans style food for about $10-$15 per person. You can call ahead for reservations, and this is also a GREAT people-watching spot. You can listen to the Pirate bands play, too, and watch the Mark Twain and Columbia sail by. You can get the famous Monte Cristo sandwich here, for considerably less than the Blue Bayou. My wife and I split it because it's very large. Has indoor or outdoor seating, but we always eat out unless it's raining. Free refills.
Some people like the River Belle Terrace (Rivers of America/Adventureland), especially if you eat a later dinner. You can watch the Fantasmic show from here. Otherwise, this is an a la carte option.
Rancho Del Zocalo: Don't eat the beans here. Yuck.
Hungry Bear Restaurant: Burgers, fries, no refills. Food is so good, people feed it to the ducks.

Food is very expensive in the park. Though, there are cheaper alternatives. In Downtown Disney, you could go to the Jazz Kitchen To Go which has cheap gumbo, etc or near the La Brea Bakery which has great paninis. If you can get out of the park for a meal, go to Mimi's Cafe. It's a great restaurant with killer salads that don't cost that much.

You can also bring a lunch in a cooler and leave it in the lockers outside. Also bring a backpack or two with snacks, juice, etc.
